The UAE has resumed issuance of employment permits for government and semi-government employees, as well as visas for domestic workers, authorities announced on Monday.
Work visas will be issued for those in vital sectors too, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship announced on Monday, in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA).
The decision also takes into account precautionary measures being undertaken by the travel industry to contain the spread of Covid-19, said state news agency Wam. The Covid-19 measures include PCR tests for workers before they enter the country, as well as quarantine if deemed necessary.
Workers holding valid UAE residence visas can continue to enter the country irrespective of their nationality, including those who work in government and semi-government entities.
